Are cracks in a concrete driveway a problem?
It depends on the crack. Fine, shallow shrinkage cracks are normal and mostly cosmetic — they can be sealed to keep water out. Wide, uneven, or spreading cracks, especially with one side sunk or lifted, suggest the base moved, and that's worth evaluating before just filling it.
Should I seal or replace a cracked driveway?
Minor surface cracks can be sealed to stop water getting in and washing out the base further. A driveway with widespread cracking, sunken sections, or crumbling concrete is past sealing and is a candidate for leveling or replacement. The crack pattern and whether the slab has moved guide the call.
